Display Solutions and RSL spread sunlight readable around the UK

There is nothing worse than being given incorrect travel updates or perhaps none at all. Whether it is a bus running late with a lack of information to tell you so or whether the 07:47 train to London has been cancelled without warning, we’ve all been there. Travel updates are becoming ever more important, but so is the ability to read them, particularly with the rise in severe weather conditions. Passenger information screens are a lifeline to many of us, especially on a cold and busy commute when there isn’t a moment to spare. That’s where Display Solutions and RSL come onboard to solve our travel information issues.

Given the recent extreme weather conditions we have experienced throughout the UK, it is key that any screen which carries live information must be able to withstand such conditions. Another vital element for any screen is the readability, followed by the importance of reliability. Fortunately, here at Display Solutions we have found a product that combines these factors to create a 1000-nit stretch panel which gives the highest levels of sunlight readability combined with low power consumption; The perfect alliance for constant operation with strong value for money. Brendan, our product manager from Display Solutions states “It was important to deliver a solution that had a low total cost of ownership that would mean ease of maintenance together with industrial performance.”

Here at Display Solutions we are committed to working hard to meet our manufacturing partner’s needs, and working with RSL on the travel update screens is the ideal example of how we do this. Brendan says “This project illustrates everything we are about at Display Solutions – we design for the real world where systems need to operate constantly and be subjected to the wear and tear of public usage”.

With over 150 screens installed so far in bus stops all over the UK, the future is looking bright and by all means readable, for RSL and Display Solutions.

PCAP is Pushing Forward With New "Display Touch" Range!

Just what is PCAP?

PCAP is becoming a key player in the technology industry, being used everyday in a range of gadgets which we are all well acquainted with, and more often than not, would be lost without. But what is PCAP, you may ask?

PCAP stands for Projective Capacitive, and is a technology that we are all familiar with in everyday life. PCAP is the technology found in your smart phone, tablet or iphone, however until now it was difficult to scale up and apply to larger gadgets such as tablets and laptops.

Introducing Display Touch

The team here at Display Solutions have been working hard to develop the PCAP technology and have successfully evolved the range by spreading out to larger size products.

Our own Display Touch brand has been developed to do just this, and offers a broad variety of touch technologies which include PCAP, as well as SAW and IR. With our quick response times, durability and reliability we have been able to offer the technology usually only found on small screens in sizes up to 42”. The product benefits from pinch, zoom and swipe gestures, and the bezel-free design prevents dirt, dust and damp from getting into the sealed unit. The Display Touch range is suitable for a wide range of applications including entertainment, information and retail. With the products pleasing aesthetics the range has already attracted an influx of interest from customer-facing applications.
